This gallery presents a rare 1914-1915 Portland Rosebuds hockey team postcard. The postcard portrays large player photos and smaller inset images of the team and its arena. The small images are hard to see, so each was scanned and are shown here.
In 1916, this team was the first U.S. squad to play for the Stanley Cup (they lost to the Montreal Canadiens). The Rosebuds, also known as the Portland Uncle Sams, played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA).
Also shown are two 1950-era aerial photos showing the Hippodrome (the long building with the arched room).
